A former leading fashion model at 5'10'' in height, Carey was a favorite with high-end American designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. In 1979 the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists elected her father Scientist of the Year. Carey was a frequent traveler because of her father's work. In her college years when she was modeling in a part-time capacity and caught the eye of Ford model Agency representatives in New York. Following her move to France and briefly resided between Paris, Bordeaux and New York She decided to return to New York and continue her education. Then, Vogue, Glamour and others were featured on their cover. In between her modeling assignments she was a full time student obtaining a major in literary studies at New York University. Then she became interested in acting and began taking classes in the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. In 1986, she got her first role in acting as a small part in Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys ski, white-water rafting rock climbing, and wind-surfing.
